Tone Designer

Because Wwise Ought to be a Guitar Amp

Tone Designer is an amplifier and effect emulation software built entirely in Wwise with hundreds of amps and effects. Many of these licensed and approved by the original manufacturers such as Marshall, Orange, Mesa/Boogie, Ibanez, Boss, and Electro Harmonics. Tone Designer works with guitar, bass, and even midi keyboard on PC, iOS, Android, and PlayStation consoles. Shown here is prototype footage of the feature along with the original design documentation.

Wwise wasn't designed with the intention of being a guitar amp, but with some clever design and engineering, it is about as full features of an emulation as most commercial amp modeling software on the market.

About Me

I began playing guitar and piano at age 10. Guitar was the instrument that really stuck, and set me on the path that I continue down today. I left high school at age 16 because music theory was an AP class and they wouldn't let me take it for another two years. Rather than wait, I started college at 16 and studied music at UC Berkeley, Musician's Institute, and then Musicology for my Masters at Cal State Hayward.

At 18 I built my first recording studio under the guise of making money recording local bands. The true motivation, however, was the ability to spend every night writing and recording songs with a few friends who shared the same goal of trying to produce a new song on a daily basis.

Video games crept into those recording sessions and that intersection between music and audio is where I happily remain today.
